June 14 Zoom Meeting – Writing Active Settings

USA Today bestselling author Mary Buckham joins us to discuss “active settings” — because setting, she says, takes an active role in any good storyline. Great novelists make settings look seamless, but this is a challenge for many writers: how do you make it visible but immersive, rather than distracting?

Mary examines these questions in her books Writing Active Settings and Writing Active Hooks. She is also co-author, with Dianna Love, of Break Into Fiction. You may be familiar with her online and live writing workshops, including her Power Plotting Webinars. She puts her insights to work in her own fiction, described as “urban fantasy with attitude,” in series featuring Alex Noziak and Kelly McAllister. As Micah Caida, she writes the YA sci-fi/adventure series Red Moon, and she is working on a new mystery series.

This meeting is free, but registration is necessary. We use Eventbrite for reservations – registering on Eventbrite will get you the Zoom link. Once you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link (scroll to the bottom of the email) from Eventbrite.
