January Zoom Meeting: Is a Community Police Academy for you?

Tuesday, January 18, 2022   7:30 PM Eastern time via Zoom

Is a Community Police Academy for you?

Arlington County just opened registrations for its 26th Community Police Academy. Arlington is one of several localities in our membership region that offer similar programs, designed to create better understanding and communication between police and the communities they serve. During an eight-week intensive program, participants learn how police officers are recruited, trained, and assigned. Arlington’s program includes a special session at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy.

Corporal Kenny Giles of the Arlington County Police Department will join us Tuesday, January 18 to talk about the Community Police Academy and answer your questions — not only about the CPA program, but also about ongoing community engagement and the changes underway in response to the recommendations of last year’s Police Practices Group.

Arlington’s community policing model is embraced by more and more cities and counties nationwide, and this presentation is bound to spark ideas and new avenues for your own research.

This meeting is free, but registration is necessary. We’re using Eventbrite for our reservations. Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link (scroll all the way to the bottom of the email) from Eventbrite. Please keep your confirmation email! Spaces are limited, so sign up today. Also, please make sure that if you sign up, you attend.

We look forward to seeing you soon!Mystery Writers of America MidAtlantic Chapter
